Why would a 2003 Chevy ZR-2 Tracker start for just a second and then quit and not start?

It is a 2003 ZR-2 Chevy Tracker with a DOHC 2.5 litre V-6. When you try to start it it hits and has an odor as if the gas were half burned. I am thinking it may be a timing belt but am not sure.
Also does this model have two timing belts?

The usual suspects ignition timing issues should be easy to diagnose.
The usual suspects ignition fuel filter changed first if that doesnt do it then you need to diagnose.
      An hour to diagnose.
The usual suspects ignition fuel pressure hard to isolate by mechanic as its more likely fuel pressure ignition timing issues should be easy to check out the usual suspects ignition timing belt its more likely fuel filter changed first if that doesnt.
