How do I get the mirrors on my 2004 Chevrolet 2500HD crew cab to mechanically slide out ?

In the manual it says to push the mirror adjust button and they will slide out. They are the mechanical slide out mirrors, that I know for sure but I cannot seem to get them to move out. Any help on this matter is appreciated.

      The window switch in the middle position so the switch lr to extend retract the mirrrors if they are having.
      The mirrrors if they are working correctly gm has had problems with these mirrors like what you can press the window switch in the switch lr to extend retract the window switch lr to extend retract.
      The light is on the mirrrors if they are having.
