I have a 1980-1985 buick 305 that needs to be rebuilt. (it has a chevrolet transmission mounting, I am putting in a 700R4) I have seen master rebuild kits (on eBay) that say they will work for the 305, 327 and 350. Are the engines that similar? I don’t need to replace the pistons, just the rings, bearings and seals. (I also know the oil pump may be slightly different between the two)

I have a friend who keeps telling me to dump the 305 and go with a 350. (he says parts are easier to get for a 350) The engine I have is plenty powerful for what I am using it for, so if the engine parts are mostly interchangable then I will stick to my 305. Thanks!

Being the new kid at school is never easy. You could make the same case for being the new teacher. In addition to getting to know the students, there’s also meeting new colleagues, getting around a new building, etc. To help that assimilation and welcome them to the school, Tracy Chevrolet Cadillac welcomed the 25 teachers new to Plymouth North High School with September’s Driven Student Award.

Entering production in April 2010 at the Lordstown, Ohio plant in the United States, the Chevy Cruze is sure to be a hit. With the initial release of the vehicle in mid 2009 in Europe, GM will definitely have the kinks worked out in time for it’s North American release.

There have been widespread rumors in regards to the efficiency of the vehicle. The outgoing Cobalt, currently gets 33-mpg on the highway and it’s special fuel efficiency program (XFE) counterpart gets 37-mpg on the highway.

On August 12th, 2008 Beth Lowry confirmed the new upcoming Cruze will get 9-mpg better gas mileage then the current Cobalt. We are not mathematicians, but 37 + 9 is 46-mpg, but we dare not argue with a press release. The success of the Cruze is essential to the survival of General Motors, as it seems only it’s compact segment is performing in terms of sales.

The Cobalt, which is confirmed to be leaving in 2010 has been a consistent performer, with sales of approximately 200,000 units annually. This compact segment is particularly important to each of the Big Three, as each company has been posting losses due to it’s heavy presence in the truck market. Therefore the key players view the compact segment as opportunity to make up for lost sales in other areas caused by higher gasoline prices.

The Cruze according to General Motors press releases, will be powered by a 1.4L turbocharged global engine, which is said to produce 140hp. No word yet on an SS model, which has been an important part of sport compact tuning since it’s debut. It will be slightly larger in size then the Cobalt, however smaller in size than the Malibu.

General Motors has set $150 million aside for development costs for the Cruze, as well as $350 million for refurbishing the Ohio plant for manufacturing the vehicle. Amidst of cutbacks, the Lordstown, Ohio plant is one of the few to receive new product and an increase in capacity. This is part of a larger scale turnaround plan to fully revitalize General Motors and turn it profitable.

CEO Rick Wagoner recently revealed a full size foam replica of the 2011 Chevrolet Cruze at a recent news conference at Lordstown, Ohio General Motors manufacturing plant.

For the past five years, Richard Chevrolet has provided two computers as raffle prizes on graduation night.  The Cheshire High graduation party held June 18th  from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., is designed to not only entertain the graduates, but to provide a safe environment where they can celebrate all night long.

Spark’s Dynamic Styling

The Chevrolet Spark is one of the world’s most famous mini-cars. Starting from its introduction in 1998 almost 2 million units have been sold in over 100 markets. The theme for the new-generation Spark is “Evolution not revolution”.

With its compact body dimensions of (length x width x height: 3,495 mm x 1,495 mm x 1,518 mm) and its small turning radius (4,600 mm). The Spark is highly maneuverable and also fits into any parking space.

Highly Fuel-Efficient

GM Daewoo engineers developed the highly fuel-efficient and powerful new S-Tec engine exclusively for the Spark. The four-cylinder 1.0 liter petrol engine delivers peak power of 63 PS at 5,400 rpm and peak torque of 90.3 Nm at 4,200 rpm. Power and torque are maximized at lower speeds, which make the Spark perfect for commuting in congested city traffic as well as on open highways.

The Spark has the highest peak power per engine displacement in its segment. The engine has been optimized via number of technical improvements such as the adoption of low-friction valve gears, sequential multi-point fuel injection or MPFI, a dual distributor-less ignition system (DOLI), a motorized throttle intake system (MTIS) and advanced optical sensor. A reduced curb weight and more aerodynamic styling further improve the Spark’s low drag co-efficient of 0.342 giving it the best fuel efficiency of any vehicle in the market.

Improved Safety

The safety features of Chevrolet Spark were also enhanced with the application of modern technologies and high-grade materials. Moreover 51 percent of the total weight of the Sparks’ body cell consists of high-strength steel, providing great rigidity and stability while lowering the weight by 10 kg. Its precisely defined load paths with an energy-absorbing hexagonal profile protect passengers in the event of head-on or rear-end collision.

The optimized links between B-pillar and sills provide side impact protection. And to further enhance protection, the B-pillar is made of three steel plates of different thickness. These plates are welded together so that in case of side impact the B-pillar will move like a pendulum rather than fold and protrude into the passenger compartment. This action is known as Tailor-Welded Blanking or the Pendulum method which is normally employed for larger vehicles in higher segments.

The other safety features found on the Spark includes driver air bag that will be available shortly after the post launching of the Spark, 2.5 mph impact proof front and rear bumpers, and tubeless tires which are first in the Spark’s segment. The front-end design of the Spark is among the first in its class to comply with the new European regulations for pedestrian safety.
