updating/converting a 1956 Chevrolet Belaire 6 cylinder to a fuel injection system?

chevrolet
BMWSGOD asked:

I would like to drive my old chevrolet’s around more often I would like to know if there is a fuel injection conversion kit sold just for this application. Help the old cars out with their gasoholism? I’m thinking maybe a tbi system? It would be a perfect world if there is a big box you can order that just bolts on with few disturbances to its body (holes)

New Chevrolet R07 to be Tested at the Texas Motors Speedway

chevrolet
Jerick Brooks asked:

Big changes are taking place over NASCAR and for this coming weekend at the Texas Motor Speedway another transformation will be taking place. While the Nextel Cup drivers are driving their old familiar cars which they have been driving for years after the first two races in the Car of Tomorrow, the rest of the Chevrolet entries are to be powered by a new engine.

Chevrolet maker of the quality Chevrolet exhaust system, has been developing an engine for nine years now and for the first time it will make its racing debut in Samsung 500. “This engine now called the R07 actually started out as R99 because we ran it the first time in 1999,” said Mark Cronquist, chief engine builder for Joe Gibbs Racing. He also added, “There was an R03. There was an R05 that never got off of the chalkboard, basically. We had it all designed, but never made it. Then there’s this one, R07. So really, this R07 has been worked on by GM teams since 1998. I’ve got notes in my office from the very first time we talked about this engine. It was January 1998.”

The process was rather frustrating but at the end it was worth the wait said Cronquist and “the awesome thing is that, if you look at R09 and R07, they don’t even look alike, so I’m glad NASCAR never approved it. It had some updates, but every time NASCAR didn’t approve it, we went back and worked harder on it and changed more things on it.”

For this coming weekend it is expected that six teams will run the new engine. Gibbs Racing will place an R07 in the cars of Tony Stewart, Denny Hamlin, and J.J. Yeley Hendrick Motorsports’ Casey Mears and Kyle Busch, and Scott Wimmer, driving a fourth Richard Childress Racing entry.

General Motors world’s largest automaker and distributor of Chevrolet exhaust is hoping to have the engine ready for this season’s upcoming race but unfortunately a few technical difficulties slowed the progress of the project. Cronquist is very much excited to get the new engine into competition. He said, “With a motor we’ve been running, the block part of it was actually designed in 1955. We’ve made a few modifications to it, but it would still bolt into a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. The new block has got a lot more technology in it. Its more updated block than what we’ve ever had before.”

When asked if the new engine produces more horsepower and torque or is more fuel efficient, Cronquist replied, “it’s just better all over. We’re finally more even with what Dodge and Toyota have. It kind of got us back in the same playing field, back in what’s considered NASCAR’s box. We were outside of the box, actually below the box. We had disadvantages and they finally let us get the same advantages that other manufacturers had over us. I don’t think that we’ve really gotten into much of the performance part about it. A lot of it is that the shop needs just a lot less time to work on the parts and pieces of it. There’s a lot of stuff in this block that’s already cast into the block that we used to have to make ourselves and try to fit into our blocks. That took a lot of time and effort to do. If the performance comes, it will come because we’re going to have a lot more time in our shop to work on it.”

Cronquist further added, “A lot of it is that the shop needs just a lot less time to work on the parts and pieces of it. There’s a lot of stuff in this block that’s already cast into the block that we used to have to make ourselves and try to fit into our blocks. That took a lot of time and effort to do. If the performance comes, it will come because we’re going to have a lot more time in our shop to work on it.”

Chevrolet’s 5 of 6

The Chevrolet team has gotten to a great start this year in Cup winning five of the six races. The reigning champion Jimmie Johnson has won three of the five races while Hendrick with teammates Kyle Busch, and RCR’s Kevin Harvick have won the other two for GM. The victory of Matt Kenneth’s at California Speedway in a Ford is the only blemish on Chevrolet’s record for this season.

Out of the eight Chevy drivers that are currently in the top 10 in Cup points, two have won at Texas. Jeff Burton won the inaugural Cup race in Fort Worth in the year 1997 but he was a driver of Ford at that time. Stewart won on the 1.5 mile Texas track last fall. The different drivers winning each of the 12 Cup races at Texas only two others have been in Chevrolets namely Terry Labonte who won in 1999 and Dale Earnhardt Jr. who won in 2000.

Chevrolet Keychains for the Classy

chevrolet
Kathy Austin asked:

General Motors (GM) is among the greatest car manufacturers and one of the most famous brands of cars out its manufacturing lineup includes the Chevrolet, popularly called “Chevy.” This company is known for its quality cars. Accessories like key chains do not take back seat in terms of quality and innovation. With different designs, these key chains are known as style icons. You can get cable style or revolving key chains, if you are a person, who constantly wants to swirl the key chain in the air.

The manufacturer of this car began way back in 1911 by a company called “Chevrolet” founded by Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant, which was later merged into GM Motors. The performance of cars is boosted by making changes in the air-intake mechanism (using different air filters) and engine modifications (changes to the cam, valve springs, boosting power by using fuel pressure regulators, use of turbo-charged engines, boost controllers and intercoolers, etc). Similarly, the craze for the key chains was increased by introducing different colors, patterns, designs and many more attractive things to a key chain.

In the olden days, key chains did not have much attraction among people. However, the usage and purpose of them is served by the youth of this generation. Many businessmen gift them to their existing customers and the potential customers also, along with their original product. Those items have the name of the company or brand imbibed on them on one side, and image of God or any message on the other. This has become a trend.

The Chevrolet key chains are quite interesting and multipurpose. The exchange of the Locket type key chains between the lovers with each other’s photograph can be a great idea, as this can accommodate the picture. If you have friends, who are mechanics or work with tools, give them a thoughtful present of a key chain with toolkit. Though the tools may not be used for bigger tasks, they can still used in minor tasks. Moreover, they would love it, as they can relate them to their work.

To purchase these key chains, you need not go to a showroom or a car dealer but can approach the nearest gift center. Another place to search these unique and classic key chains is the Internet. Most of the auction sites or shopping site would have a collection of them. One advantage of shopping the key chains over the Internet is you can sit in the comforts of your home and search as many sites as you want. There is no physical strain or loss of time. However, there are few disadvantages also.

You should not buy from every site available. Try the websites that are popular, and trustworthy, as few websites swindle the customers’ money or credit card information, and don’t deliver the goods. One tip for shoppers on the Internet is to look for logos near the bottom of the page.

As a Chevrolet car owner, you are sure to be considered, a person of classy and high taste. With Chevrolet key chain, you would be a proud owner, who is envied by many.

The Old, New and Loved Chevrolet Corvette

chevrolet
Keith George asked:

General Motors manufactures Chevrolet Corvette in their Kentucky assembly plant. This car falls in the sports car category. Corvettes are either two door coupes or two door convertibles. Chevrolet Corvette is very similar to Dodge Viper and Ford GT.

Extremely powerful engines are one of the distinguishing features of this car. But though the engine packs power it is not complex. An overhead valve together with a larger displacement, usage of leaf springs in suspension makes Chevrolet Corvette what it is.

Other cars in the similar category are made with a much more complex engine. The cars are in many colors like sunset orange, silver grey. There have been many models of Chevrolet Corvette each better than the previous one.

Corvettes are very sophisticated cars, but they have a little history behind them. Corvette is a small fighting frigate and the car has taken its name from them. The naming has been done by a gentleman called Myron Scott.

Though now General Motors manufacture them in a very big way, the first car built in Flint, Michigan was practically hand made. From that first car the latest Chevrolet Corvette model unveiled in the last quarter of 2005, as a model for 2006, has indeed come a long way. General Motors have constantly strived to make the newer models a cut above the rest, but without any mind boggling complexities. In the niche market, Corvettes stand tall.

Owning a Chevrolet Corvette is a matter of pride. They are stylish and expensive. Only a true car connoisseur can really appreciate the beauty of a Corvette. Fuel economy is another attraction of a Corvette. The cars have become very popular especially with those who are somewhat adventurous and enjoy speed.

Dealers are able to guide the customer and Corvettes come with a thirty six month warranty. There is the benefit of insurance also. Corvettes offer a comfortable ride, but compared to other sports cars, there is less agility because of a light steering and its width. The interior of the 2006 model is an improvement on the earlier models.

There is a big market for used cars and with the advent of internet

buying and selling cars have become very easy and convenient. In fact getting the product details or information about new models is easy too. There are used car dealers and the prospective seller can contact them. But getting attached to Chevrolet Corvette is so easy, few think of getting rid of it.

How can I disconnect the anti-theft device installed on my Chevrolet Malibu?

chevrolet
kamalpasha asked:

Can anyone please guide me where I could get an owners’ Manual for Chevrolet (Malibu). I bought a 1998 model and the anti-theft device installed in it sometimes switches on automatically as if I am stealing my own car. I would like to disconnect it as no mechanic here knows how to do it.
Many thanks to you Jim. It really worked and now no trouble with the anti-theft device.
